The only reason I’m writing this post is because my ankles are so swollen that I need to ice them before bed and I need something to do as I sit here for 10 minutes.
After a few issues with trains we made it out to the US Open! First we stopped by Louis Armstrong (the second show court) to see the end of James Blake’s match:

Then we headed over to Ashe for the Agassi tribute:

One of my favorite parts of the opening night ceremony is when they unfurl the flag:

Then we saw Venus Williams (in hot pink) play:

It was an awful match. Venus had a problem with her left knee and she kept double faulting and the other girl couldn’t hold serve and it was just error-ridden. It ended up going 3 sets because neither of them could win until the end when Venus finally did it. It’s not a fun type of match to watch though.
So after that the men’s match didn’t start until after 11.
We were tired:

We started the men’s match up here:

And ended up down here when they let all the cheap seat people move down to the expensive seats after midnight:

Closeup of Mr. Roddick:

Here I am courtside (my hair is awful, I hate this cut)

And, because I’m a huge loser, look up close I got to my favorite ESPN commentator, Darren Cahill

I wanted to go tell him how much I like him and get my picture taken with him but there was no good way to get to him.
Ok, I’m quickly headed into less than 4 hours of sleep territory. Good night!
