I’m pretty sure I experienced a flash flood this evening on my way back from the gym. It was raining pretty hard and the corners where I had to cross the street had about a few inches of water and it was building up quickly. At first I tried to leap over the puddles but at the end I was just walking through them. I passed a motorcycle that had half its wheels under water. It was also scary because Park Slope is actually sloped and the rushing water was really rushing!
But let’s rewind. My parents and aunt came to have brunch today. They were supposed to be here at 11:30 so when I woke up at 8:30 I had 3/4 of a cup of plain Puffins and an apple. But they didn’t get here until 12:30 and I was starving! We went to Perch which is one of my favorite brunch places. Since it was prime brunch time we had to wait a while to be seated so I was really starving by the time we ordered. I had a mint tea, ginger mint lemonade, egg sandwich with jalepenos, onions, and cheddar, and grits (which I didn’t really like). The sandwich was SO good.
I walked around with them for a while after that and then said goodbye. I did some work on the blog this afternoon. Check out the recipes page and the important posts page.
While doing that I looked at some past posts and came across the history of my pickiness. In it I said two of the foods that I never liked but I wanted to learn to like were yogurt and eggs. Well, mission accomplished! I’m now addicted to Greek yogurt and I’ve had eggs several times and enjoyed them in a few different forms. Also on the list was Asian food and if you count the dumplings I had and loved at the Vendys I’ve done 3 out of 4!
I went to the gym tonight. I did the treadmill again this time 2 mins of level 6 at a 2.0 incline alternating with 1 min of level 6.5 at the same incline. I did that for about 20 minutes, walked and then did it again for one time, walked, and then did it again until I reached 3.1 miles at about 32 minutes. I even ran the last 2 minutes at 6.5. I think it’s more of a mental thing for me than a physical thing.
After the treadmill I did the upright bike for 20 mins, some ab work, stretched, and braved the flash floods.
For dinner I had the same thing as last night except an apple instead of a banana.

And my mom brought me a piece of cake she made.

It was delicious.
My roommates and I all stayed in tonight and we watched Two Weeks Notice together. It was really fun.
