My trip to Austin was great, hectic and stressful just due to the nature of my life lately, but pretty relaxing while I was there.
When I landed in the morning I went right to the Magnolia Cafe for lunch. One of the things I really dislike about Austin is that you have to drive every where, but most of the good places barely have any parking. It’s so frustrating. I had to circle past the Magnolia Cafe three times before I managed to find a parking space.
After lunch I headed over to the hotel and was able to check in early. I changed and headed over to the account I came to Austin to visit to take a tour of their mocked up stores. On my previous two trips to Austin I never got a chance to do that so it was interesting to have the chance this time.
Thursday evening I grabbed dinner and then hung out in the hotel room watching the Olympics.
Friday morning I tried to order room service for breakfast, but all three times I called the room service line, over the course of an hour, I was just put on hold forever. I could have called the front desk, but I just gave up. Instead I headed over to Great Harvest, which was right by my hotel, and got a smoothie and some bread to bring home.
I then headed over to an outdoor mall to get some walking in. After that it was lunch time and I decided to try The Tacodeli which had good reviews on Yelp.
It was then back to the hotel to relax and watch more Olympics. After a while I went for a walk around the outdoor mall that was right next to my hotel room. Then it was more relaxing, grabbing dinner, and heading over to the work event that evening.
It went well, actually it went by pretty quickly, and I was back in the hotel room to catch the end of the Olympics in no time.
Unfortunately I had an early wake up call Saturday morning to make it to the airport for my 7am flight. But I was up, on the road, and at the airport right on time. And I was back in NY before noon!
I did get to drive the Airtrain though. Just kidding
